Our Second Home is Daly City’s first family support center dedicated to the needs of young children and their families and caregivers. The program model is grassroots, with all decisions and programs informed by local residents and families.

From ESL Students

This class is helping me to help my kids with homework and to make me feel more sure when I talk with people who only speak English.

This class is helping me a lot to understand my patients in the hospital, where I work and to translate for the Spanish people when they can't speak English. This makes me happy because I can help many people in this world.

The English class helps me because I am learning the meaning of the words. I am writing sentences correctly. I can communicate with my daughter's teacher and I can answer her questions.

From Parent Leaders

Our Second Home has given me the opportunity to meet and share with other parents and your staff. And to discuss issues and concerns that surround our daily lives.

It is a fun and relaxed time to get together with other parents to teach and discuss important ideas about family life styles and ways to live an even better life.

I have good things to say about Our Second Home, for me and my family is really our second home since we moved from Miami to California. We started taking the ESL classes, place where we met you. Then you invited me to participate in the Parent Leadership Series. I remembered every meeting was special, great and very important for me and the rest of the group, we laugh, cried and learned a lot. I want to say thank you so much for those classes and for your unconditional support... For me and my family, "Our Second Home" is really our second home.

Our Second Home has been just that to me and my two children. Everyone at Our Second Home has been wonderful and so very helpful. They have taught me so much from how to seek resources, encouraged me to become the Chairperson at Head Start and helped me with disciplining my children in a positive way. I don't know what I would do without Our Second Home!
